Internet Outage is an archival project dedicated to the preservation of historic memes and video oddities. While videos are rapidly disappearing from the internet, we created an archive on VHS tape cassettes for posterity.

Why VHS? First, the internet and the cloud itself is backed up on magnetic tape. Cassettes may seem like an outdated technology, but they represent the hard copy – something we take for granted in a world of streaming and pay-per-view. Accessing media without internet connection and without a computer is a forgotten freedom. 

Proceeds from all tape sales will be donated to Internet Archive, a non-profit library with the mission of "universal access to all knowledge". It provides free access to millions of books, websites, movies, software, music, and more.
